Satellite plans

  • SpaceX (US) has launched 120 satellites and is intending to launch 42,000 in total, 60 at a time twice a month during 2020, It is developing a rocket that can launch 120 at a time. They expect to turn on the first 420 satellites in February 2020.
  • OneWeb (UK) is planning 5,260 satellites, launching 30 at a time every three to four weeks starting January 2020. Late 2020, it plans to turn the first 300 on.
  • Telesat (Canada) wants 512 satellites with intent to offer services in 2021.
  • Amazon is aiming for 3,236 satellites, with offering services when 578 of those are in orbit.
  • Facebook has plans but is not disclosing its plans.
  • Roscosmos (Russian Space Agency) is planning for 640 satellites.
  • Aerospace Science and Industry Corp. (China, state owned) in intending to have 156 satellites in orbit in 2022.
  • Lynk Global, Inc. (US) is promising a huge global satellite network in 2023.

User devices can be mounted on homes and vehicles and will function as small cells.
